China's Mobile Phone Subscriber Base Exceeds 350 mil. in May 05

According to figures provided by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry on June 21, there were 23.7 new mobile phone subscriptions in the first five months of 2005 in China, meaning that the total number of mobile phone subscriptions increased to 358 million. Fixed line telephone subscriptions grew by 21.1 million in the first five months of 2005 to a total of 333 million. Furthermore, the total number of broadband service subscriptions reached 30.2 million at the end of May, increasing by 5.3 million in the first five months of the year.
